4/17/09 RESOLVE AND RESILIENCE

April 17, 2009
Resolve And Resilience, Comrades In Arms
I have thought about sanctified RESOLVE and sanctified RESILIENCE in my own life. These two attitude companions are worthy of our attention, since they help us overcome our adversaries and adversities.

RESOLVE (determination) is what keeps me from falling into sin. Resolve strengthens me for the confrontation.

RESILIENCE (the power to spring back, rebound) is what brings me back, after suffering losses beyond my control. Resilience enables me to return after a set back or loss.

My Resolve has given rise to my Resilience. They have both stood me in good stead all these years. Be not weary in well doing and keep on keeping on, no matter what happens (Ga. 6:9).

Not All Losses Come From Personal Sin
The "losses" I refer to are not related to falling into sin. These losses can come because of direct attacks from Satan or because of the way other people treat us.

"I Am Resolved"

I like the words of the old song, "I am resolved, no longer to linger, charmed by the worlds delights. Things that are higher, things that are nobler, these have allured my sight... I will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free... Jesus greatest highest, I will come to Thee." There are at least 4 other great verses to this song.
