I met a couple the
other day, who is involved in Christian music ministry (?). They live
in another state and come down to MB for vacation or getaway time.
Invite And Excuse
I asked the man, "Where do you worship while you are here?"
He answered, "We need a break from time to time.”
I Understand
I understand that sickness (either our own or another person's) will keep us from service and I understand that some people do not attend worship services when away from home, along with other reasons. But to say, "We need a break from time to time," is absurd.
Does that mean he needs a break from his home church from time to time. Of course, I have never been to his Baptist church, so he might be right. I know I would need a break from some Baptist theology. But I would need a permanent break from some Baptist theology. I am referring to "sinning religion.."
Burned Out?
He also made references to ministry people getting "burned out." But that has more to do with an imbalanced life than it does with "needing a break." I been in ministry for 40 years and I have never needed a break. God's word does not teach any such thing. And it cannot be excused by saying Jesus went aside aside for prayer, because they are not the same things.
God Says
Apparently he does not believe Hebrews 10:24-25
24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good
works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the
manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more,
as ye see the day approaching.
