12/5/09 RESPONSE TO COUNSEL

RESPONSE TO COUNSEL
We don't have to figure life out, on our own. In fact, we will find ourselves in trouble if we do neglect or reject the counsel that God offers us through His Word, His Spirit and His servants. To reject God appointed and anointed authority and leadership is to reject God's will.
THE FOOL REJECTS COUNSEL.

BASIC CONCEPTS
Jesus Said,
Luke 10:16
16 He that hears you hears me; and he that despises you despises me; and he that despises me despises him that sent me.

James Said,
James 1:22
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

PEARLS FROM PROVERBS
Pr 1:5-7
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Pr 1:22
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Pr 10:8
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Pr 10:20-21
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Pr 12:15
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise.

Pr 15:5
5 A fool despises his father's instruction: but he that regards reproof is prudent.

Pr 15:22
22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Pr 17:10
10 A reproof enters more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool.

Pr 19:20
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou may be wise in thy latter end.

Pr 20:18
18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Pr 23:9
9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

Pr 26:11-12
11 As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool returns to his folly.
12 See thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Pr 27:9
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
