I AM A WHAT?
Have you ever thought about what kind of animal best represents your status in life? For instance, a Cheetah because you are so fast or an Owl because you are so wise. Well, for some time I have been thinking that I am a Canary. Any guesses as to why I say, Canary? For those who have heard me sing, you knew that I could not think I could sing like a "canary." hehehe
Someone correctly guessed, "a canary" because a canary is sent into tunnels and mines to test for toxic air, to warn workers of existing danger.
As a minister of the gospel I have been given the responsibility to monitor our society and warn people about the dangers they are going to encounter. Sometimes this puts the pastor in a dangerous situation, because he is at the front of the action. He will be resented by those who are contributing to the toxic atmosphere and will also be rejected by some of those who are close to him.
Anyone who proclaims the Word of God will suffer the ire of a Christ-less society. But usually, those in the greatest danger will not understand that their well being is in jeopardy.
Another friend made this observation.
"That's why one should stay close to the canary. If the canary is not observed, it does you no good. The canary is not the problem, the canary is there to indicate when there is a problem."
