Sometimes things do not go the way we want them to go. Either things happen that are unfavorable or things don't happen that would be favorable.
When things don't go our way,
We can either deal with it "in the Spirit," by
Trusting the Lord,
Resting in Him,
Waiting on Him,
Not worrying,
Not giving in to anger.
OR
We can deal with it "in the Flesh," by
Fretting,
Fussing and
Fighting.
You have seen people react to problems. They become negative (or more negative), they become irate or gloomy. And often times over nothing. But since their negativity will not change circumstances, it is wasted energy, even in the important things. Not only does negativity not solve problems, it exacerbates problems.
You can either Fret over being shortchanged or you can Fret when you are being dumped on, but God tells us to FRET NOT.

GOD SAYS,
Psalms 37:7-8
(7) Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
(8) Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

James 1:19-22
(19) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
(20) For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
(21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
(22) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
