The Foundation Of American/Israeli Relations
Though our government leaders could not
explain the what or the why, American relations with Israel have
historically been based on a pre-millennial, pre-tribulational view
of the end times. This is understandable, since the Dispensational
view of the Bible was a prominent view among evangelical and
fundamentalist American Christians until recent years. American
policy was greatly influenced by the belief that the newly restored
nation of Israel was the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. America,
being so heavily influenced by Bible teaching, became a major
supporter of Israel in its bid for world recognition.
Moving Away
However, in recent years our
society has been moving away from its earlier beliefs. Now it is more
popular to ridicule the idea of a literal rapture, tribulation and
millennial reign of Christ, or deny the Biblical position of a
pre-tribulation rapture and pre-millennial return of Christ. Along
with this comes the denial that the modern State of Israel has
special place in the mind of God. In fact, we see the Biblical record
of Israel's history denied altogether.
The Result Is Devastating
This is why our leaders and a
larger number of our citizens are less supportive of Israel and more
“tolerant” of the anti-semitic religion of Islam. As America
moves away from a Biblical view of Israel and Christ, we move closer
to the very powers that want to destroy Israel and America (Iran and
other Islamic nations as well as Russia and China).
Basic Misconception
Some of those who do not believe in
the “Dispensational” view of Scripture claim that the idea of the
rapture was invented by John Darby in the early 1800s. Actually,
Darby was no more the inventor of the Rapture than Luther was the
inventor of Justification by faith (1500s). While it is true that
these, and other Bible doctrines lost their place of distinction
during the Roman Catholic years of dominance, they were rediscovered
by sincere Christians after the Reformation, with the resurgence of
Biblical research.
A Biblical Foundation Essential To Survival
The rise of a post-Christian
society has escalated a disregard for a belief in Bible faith,
promoted antisemitism and undermined the foundation of American
concepts of freedom. What we believe about God and the Bible
determines what will happen to us as a nation.
